Call Whisper

Also known as: whisper message, call announcement

A call whisper is a short recorded message played to the person answering (but not the caller) that announces which campaign or number the incoming call came from.

A call whisper is a brief message the answerer hears before the line connects, something like “Google Ads call” or “calling about the spring promotion.” It gives whoever picks up instant context, so they can greet the caller appropriately and so a busy front desk knows which campaign or location the call is for.

Whispers are especially useful for agencies and businesses running several campaigns at once: the receptionist can answer “Thanks for calling, how can we help with your roof repair?” because the whisper named the campaign. See call whisper for setup examples.

Frequently asked questions

How is a call whisper different from an IVR?

A whisper talks to your team; an IVR talks to the caller. The whisper is a one-line heads-up the answerer hears before the line connects, while an IVR presents the caller with a menu such as 'press 1 for sales.' They are often used together.

Does the caller hear the whisper?

No. The whisper message plays only to the person answering the call, during the moment before they are connected. The caller hears normal ringing and notices nothing unusual.
